I Know What You Said Last Night

Do you ever think about what you say when you’re inside a home that is up for sale? Well, if you didn’t before, perhaps you’d better. We live in an age of surveillance. People are watching your every move – including what you’re doing and saying inside their homes. You’re no longer safe to verbally trash the homeowners’ use of color, wallpaper, poor cleaning habits, their stuff, or say “Oh my gosh, what were they thinking?” You should probably wait until you’re outside the home (and a at safe distance) to do that!

If you’re a buyer, a seller would have great insight into you’re negotiating position: Didn’t you say you loved my house? Well, since you loved it so much, I’m sure you’d be willing to pay more. Or, they trashed our home, so we’re not going to let them have this house come heck or high water!

And, if you’re a friend or neighbor of the seller, what you say could ruin your relationship. So…

Careful what you say – you never know who’s listening!
