Ventura County Housing Conference

I attended the Ventura County Housing Conference held at the Courtyard Marriott in Oxnard yesterday and heard some really great speakers. One of the notable speakers was Dr. Raphael Bostic of the USC Lusk School of Business, an ECONOMIST! I really enjoyed hearing his point of view on the economy and how that translates to the local Ventura County economy. Dr. Bostic is an admitted optimistic economist and was still able to remain realistic about the challenges we face in Ventura County. With the news about layoffs at Amgen and Countrywide and the economic indicators that usually coincide with a recession, Ventura County could be in for a bumpy ride over the next few years. It almost made be think that I need to jump ship and follow the herd to the next money-making venture - but that is not me. I guess I'm hard-headed that way.

If you're interested in any of the speaker presentations, you can find the materials at http://www.vchome.org/.
